How does State Anxiety effect performance?
When an athlete competes at an elite level, where they are under immense pressure to perform their best, this can activate their state anxiety therefore hindering their performance. For example, if rowers were in a boat and one of them catches a crab, the other athletes may fall into anxiety because of this as their performance was effected. although already effected from the crab, an athletes reaction to the situation could be the difference between a win and a loss as their emotions could be detrimental to their performance.
